Lumbar Spine Treatments
At Ahlgren Spine, board-certified and fellowship-trained spinal surgeon Dr. Bradley D. Ahlgren provides comprehensive lumbar (lower back) spine treatments for numerous painful and immobilizing conditions. These treatments include:
This surgical process, which corrects problems with the vertebrae (small bones) of the lumbar (lower back) spine, is essentially a “welding” process in which two or more vertebrae are fused together in order to heal into a single, solid bone.
This procedure – also known as decompression surgery – enlarges the spinal canal to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerves by removing the lamina, the back part of a vertebra that covers the spinal canal.
This minimally invasive steroid injection helps to temporarily reduce pain caused by inflamed spinal nerves due to spinal stenosis or disc herniation, thereby allowing you to resume normal activities and a physical therapy program.
Revision spine surgery is performed on certain patients to correct problems from earlier surgery when chronic pain is indicated even after surgery. The anterior lumbar fusion approach involves an incision through the belly in order to remove a disc, place a bone graft, and fuse the bones into one solid piece.
Dr. Bradley D. Ahlgren often performs surgery for traumatic injuries (fractures, dislocations, compressions, etc.) to one or more of your vertebrae in the lumbar region, as well as damage to the ligaments or discs of the spinal column or the spinal cord.
